Feature Request: TypeScript Strict Mode Support

Proposed Implementation

Add a typescript.strict option to the Storybook configuration that enables stricter TypeScript checking:

  addons: ['@storybook/addon-essentials'],
  framework: {
    name: '@storybook/react-webpack5',

  },
  typescript: {
    check: true,

    strict: true,  // NEW: Enable strict mode
  },
};

When strict: true is set:

1. Enable strictNullChecks in the TypeScript compiler options
2. Enable noImplicitAny
3. Enable strictFunctionTypes
4. Enable noImplicitReturns
5. Enable strictPropertyInitialization

Implementation Location

• packages/typescript/typescript/src/index.ts — Add strict option to config schema
• packages/core/src/ts-defaults.ts — Apply strict defaults when enabled

Impact

• Breaking change: No — opt-in feature
• Backward compatible: Yes
• Effort: ~30-50 lines
